The year so far…

Late last year I let you guys know that I was leaving parish ministry at St Paul’s in Katikati in the hope of making space for this amorphous music ministry that seems to be springing up beneath our feet.

Well so far so good. Since the beginning of this year, I’ve had the opportunity to minister in Rotorua with St John’s in the City; in Auckland with The Upper Room; in Dunedin with B@tch and in Lawrence with the Presbyterian Church there.

In a few weeks time I’ll be off to Wellington for a weekend, sharing at Wadestown Presbyterian and St John’s in the City. Beyond that there’s another weekend in Auckland being planned, a trip to Dunedin in May to meet with Student Soul, Leith Valley Presbyterian and First Church and a possible trip to Queenstown and Wanaka towards the middle of the year! There are even whispers of a worship camp/conference at Pukerau in July.

Looking even further down the line, we’re still quietly working on a month long tour to Australia with the Uniting Church to help them promote this wonderful new website, songsthatunite.org.au which publishes songs from local writers for the local church.

Looking at what we’ve done in these last short months, and what is coming up is really exciting – and a real testament to Gods hand being in this, and God’s church recognising the worth of what we have to share.

In the meantime and the in-between-times,  I get to hang out with the good folk at St Peter’s in Tauranga where I’m the music director, helping them hear what Jesus is saying to them, and helping enable their response to him in worship. Happy sigh.
