He loves me still – song for Valedictory service
So I’m preaching on Luke 12:22-34 where Jesus is talking about ‘Look at the birds….look at the flowers – they’re awesome, so don’t worry – God loves you even more than these.’ (Or something similar).
At the end of my sermon I’m hoping to have had daisies spread around the sanctuary, hopefully enough for everyone to have one. As we sing this song, I’m going to invite people to play a game of ‘He loves me, he loves me not’ except this game is slightly more predictable, it goes, ‘He loves me, he loves me still.’
Its to remind us that the love of God is never at stake, even when we’re convinced that we’re not good enough (or that we are!) In this passage, God invites us into a somewhat carefree life, knowing that we are held in the care of God who is attentive and lavish with his love and provision.
So have a listen, see what you think. The melody is a little hairy, mostly the delivery I think. Sorry I had 5 minutes while Sam was in the bath – I’m mostly impressed I had time to overdub the bridge vocal in the last chorus! Oh and I can’t do that live by the way 😉
