A new kind of day

Here’s a song from my 2008 album, One Voice (which you can get here). My friend Sally needs the lyrics for this song for tomorrow’s church service over in Hawke’s Bay – so I thought I’d make flick them up for everyone. Enjoy.

03 New Kind of Day

A new kind of day – Malcolm Gordon 2007

Gone are the days when summer brought uninterrupted warmth
And you could count on that for sure
While our land drowns another dries
And these winds of change keep blowing
And they blow this world off course

And this very earth is aching
Aching for the dawn

So we cry for a world that cannot weep
To our God the source of life itself
For we know a new kind of day is breaking
So we pray help us prepare the way

Gone are the days spring rainfall came like clockwork without fail
Now late snowfalls ambush us
In this harsh cold we’re told
Our whole world is getting warmer
Warm enough to kill

And this very earth is aching
Aching for the dawn

So we cry for a world that cannot weep
To our God the source of life itself
For we know a new kind of day is breaking
So we pray help us prepare the way
