FUNNY KIND OF DAY

Funny, how one minute people are impressed,
and the next they’re red-faced with rage.

Funny, how one moment your words are gracious,
and the next you’re being driven out of town.

Funny, how when you proclaim God’s favour belongs to ‘us’
you are lauded as a honourable son, but when you proclaim God’s favour also belongs to ‘them’
you get pushed onto the edge of a cliff.

Funny, how we forget that you removed vengeance,
replaced it with jubilee.

Funny kind of way to start a ministry.

But then,
you’re a funny kind of way to save the world.
