Season of Light 1

Hi, this is Adrian Taylor and OneVoice is giving me room to create! I’ll be sharing some prayerful poetry as I mediate on the Lectionary texts for each week. Join with me as I explore the form of the ‘collect’ and listen to the Spirit of God.

Over recent years I have become increasingly interested in Christian meditation practices. So this blog space is the result of my desire to write and share inspirations as a spiritual practice. My hope is that it will opening up some wonderful possibilities. So hence the image of the crucible, which I think you’ll agree is a fitting image of the voice of God. Then we can affirm together the words of the psalster:

“And the words of the LORD are flawless,
like silver purified in a crucible,
like gold refined seven times”

Right now we are in the season of Eastertide or as I’ve framed it, Season of Light.  This is the ‘week of weeks’ that spans Easter Sunday through Pentecost Sunday.  In week one we read that Jesus appears before his followers and says “Peace be with you.” Find the whole story in John 20:19-31. Below is my meditative poem.

Season of Light 1:

The God Who Stands Among Us –
The Gift of Christ
Given in the same breath as your deep peace
Overwhelm our souls
And make us witness to your sacred wholeness
