‘Into the Deep’ album artwork revealed
Over the last couple of months, I’ve been watching Eden Finlay, the Dunedin artist (and genius), create artwork to compliment the new album. Its time you got to see a little of his handiwork.
It was a truly humbling and inspiring experience to give the songs and ideas over to Eden and watch the inspiration take over. Eden has a gift, and it was exciting to see him turn that gift towards enhancing my songs.
As you can see, the finished result is breathtaking. The image of that churning sea, the swirling storm seeming to swallow up that tiny little boat immediately conjured up images of St Brendan and his legendary sea journey, or Reepicheep the talking-mouse sitting fearlessly at the prow of the ‘Dawn Treader’. It captures that feeling of being in the hands of forces bigger than we can imagine, of being out of our depth – which is what this album, and my life, seems to be about at the moment.
For the centre of the album inlay, Eden created this image.
Beautiful huh? Its really exciting to see art working with art to deepen people’s experience of the music. So thanks Eden, for the gift you have and the gift you are, and for sharing it with the rest of us.
